Case Environmental has consultancy experience of all types of sewage assets, sewerage infrastructure and drainage systems and can provide expert consultancy advice from trouble-shooting problems, expert witness services, ensuring compliance to the latest Environment Agency regulations/General Binding Rules, registration and replacement.
Being simply a consultancy (and not installers) we are not looking to sell you a solution that we can conveniently provide like many other 'consultancies' do; we look at all relevant options along with the regulatory implications, typical costs and ongoing obligations to allow you to make a considered and educated decision.
Projects and problems tackled include direct raw sewage discharges, cess pits, fat/oil/grease traps, septic tanks with direct discharges, septic tanks with drainage fields, withy/reed-bed systems, treatment plants, mains connections and pumping stations. We can also provide advice with regard to the general binding rules (GBRs) and how they apply to your sewage treatment asset.
Sewage discharges to ground and SPZs
In the last few years we have seen increasing demand for consultancy services regarding sewage discharges to ground that are too close drinking water abstractions such as boreholes and wells. The area surrounding such water supply assets is termed a Source Protection Zone and has inner and outer zones; SPZ 1 & SPZ2. This is either 50 days travel or at least 50metres radius from the water source. In areas with porous gelogy and large water abstraction volumes the source protection zones may be very large with the SPZ1 extending significantly further than 50m. We have extensive experience with such sites and what solutions might be considered to resolve the conflict.
Private sewage asset inspection
This is a useful service for prospective house buyers as a failing sewage system can be very costly to rectify. Case Environmental can provide a detailed investigation into existing foul assets and provide a report detailing the condition the system, appropriateness of size, compliance to regulations and future maintenance obligations. Where assets are found to be failing or polluting, advice is given along with improvement options and typical costs.
Private sewage improvement
Case Environmental can develop and deliver projects to replace/upgrade sewage systems for all types of site and user. Past and ongoing clients range from small single domestic dwellings to large commercial centres. For such projects, all options will be considered - this will include connections to mains sewer.
Environmental permit application
Where required we can complete the necessary forms to submit an application for an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting Regulations 2016. We are very familiar with the process and have submitted and successfully obtained many permits for our clients.
Sewage Testing
Case Environmental can collect and analyse samples to establish whether the sewage treatment process is working correctly and producing final effluent compliant with manufacturers' specifications, consent/license to discharge (or environmental permit).
Expert Witness
Case Environmental can investigate and act as an expert witness in cases of sewage disputes.
